I could still leave Liverpool — Coutinho

Sam Allardyce has left the bulk of his kept the bulk of his first-team at Finch Farm, giving little credence to Everton's Europa League dead rubber against Apollon Limassol, but Jurgen Klopp cannot afford that luxury. Much of the pre-game discussion centered around Henderson, but he had become an afterthought amidst the post-game celebrations. Fine margins have played a part in their most iconic European moments, where late strikes were regularly required to tip the balance of power back in their favour.

'I think the great thing for Philippe and Liverpool also is getting to the knockout stages of the Champions League, ' he said.

He scored a hat-trick tonight in the club's Champions League demolition of Spartak Moscow.

The stat is made more impressive when you consider that they only managed the one goal in their final group game - and even more so when the opponents are taken into account: this was a group that featured Bayern Munich. So far when we changed it was always about bringing in the players to win the game.

Sadio Mane scored twice and Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah both found the net as Liverpool's 'Fab Four' emphatically returned the five-time champions to the knockout rounds after a nine-year absence. We didn't do a lot, it was a bridge day, but what we did they could do.

Much of that is down to their fearsome attacking foursome and Gomez was quick to recognise their qualities.

'After every goal (against Spartak) it was like 'focus.

From Mane's pass, Salah sent the ball out to Firmino on the right and his selfless square ball allowed Coutinho to tuck away his 50th goal in Liverpool colours.

"Clearly they're beating these so-called lesser teams, and the same in the Premier League". He will miss the first leg of Liverpool's round of 16 tie for an accumulation of bookings throughout the group stage. Spartak never really stood a chance despite enjoying an unbeaten 12-match run in the Russian Premier League.

And Klopp insists Liverpool will be prepared for whoever after last night's stuffing of Spartak. Infamously surrendering a three-goal lead in last month's clash with Sevilla was a classic case, and Klopp's reign has been littered with similar examples.

'Obviously they are all big games and we will be ready for them but we believe we can beat anyone and we have to have that mentality. Salah and Coutinho combined once again on the 60-minute mark but forced only a corner, as the Reds looked to strengthen the competition for the goal of the night award.

They currently have every reason to believe that history will repeat itself for a third time.
