Cech can be our Van der Sar — Wenger

Arsene Wenger's side trails leaders Manchester City by 12 points going into Wednesday's match with Huddersfield.

'Petr Cech is a perfectionist.

We are in November and you win the title in May.

"First you need to win your games and keep putting pressure on them". That was in the 1993/1994 season, though. They scored seven at Maribor recently, thrashed West Ham away from home, and put three past Sevilla, so they're usually good for goals on their travels. Ultimately, it took a controversial penalty decision in stoppage time for the Gunners to break the deadlock, but unsurprisingly Wenger was keen to focus on the positives of his team's performance rather than the fortuitous nature of the result.

After the final whistle had blown, Rajiv van La Parra was sent off for dragging his foot over Leroy Sane's face and then pushing him in his face when he reacted.

The Arsenal goalkeeper made two crucial stops as Arsenal prevailed late on at Burnley.

A perfect home record has been the foundation of that recovery, with the Gunners now having won 11 straight Premier League games at home - six from six this season.

Cech has been in fine form in recent Premier League games, keeping clean sheets in Arsenal's last two wins over Tottenham and Burnley.

And his boss is hoping there are many more years left in the tank at the Emirates Stadium. "And you don't make a career he has made if you have not that obsession, always to be at your best".

"We all know that it's a long season, but going into this busy period we want to be picking up some points, so hopefully we can get something in the next few games".

I expect City's impressive home form to continue against an average Southampton team who were hugely flattered by scoring four past an awful Everton defence on Sunday afternoon.

Defender Mathias Jorgensen - who wears the nickname 'Zanka' on his shirt - reckons the Terriers could use that disappointment to their advantage. But it's a lot, if you want to make a horse lose a race, you put a jockey with one or two kilos more on the back.

Winger Rajiv van La Parra is suspended following his red card on Sunday for a clash with City's Leroy Sane.
