Dodgers remain confident after Game 2 loss

"Anybody can win a game at any time". He carried his regular season success into the postseason, where he won the American League Championship Series MVP, going 2-0 with a 0.56 ERA in 16 innings.

But there was more. Game 1 initially drew a 2.9 and 10.9 million viewers, but eventually adjusted up to a 3.9 and 14.97 million viewers. After returning for the second time, he held opponents to a.194 batting average and averaged 11.2 strikeouts per nine innings, finishing with a 12-8 record.

"I mean I got cologne so its not that big a deal", said Gonzalez.

Houston Astros' Carlos Correa, Cameron Maybin and Marwin Gonzalez celebrate after game two. He remains unbeaten in an Astros uniform, barely. Justin Verlander, Houston's Game 2 starter, referred to it as an "instant classic".

Yasiel Puig, who later struck out to end the game, hit a home run an inning earlier, and Enrique Hernandez knotted the game up with a single.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts elected to bring hard-throwing closer Kenley Jansen in during the eighth inning in the hopes of a six-out save, but Houston had other ideas. He continues to show why he such a rare talent at his position and it gives the Astros a platoon of sorts at shortstop. Puig, Joc Pederson and Corey Seager also went deep for the Dodgers. Jansen has one two-inning save in the 2016 postseason, and two more appearances of at least two innings.

The Dodgers weren't going to win this game on pitching alone. There's no quit. Top to bottom of the lineup.

"Been wearing same shoes and socks to every play-off game", said Kevin Martinez.

Before Gonzalez's home run, the Dodgers had an 85 percent chance of winning, according to Fangraphs.

The Astros broke a scoreless streak of 28 innings for Dodgers relievers.

He kept exhorting his club, telling the team it was not nearly over.

"All of a sudden, two runs seemed like it was the Grand Canyon", he said.

"A couple years ago, I was using a bucket in independent ball as a toilet", he recalled last weekend.

Many people may go to quirky or extreme lengths to follow superstitions, which they believe will help the Astros to victory. It's also a great ska revival band name. "We'll have more information on him, but the games will have to be played on the field". The Dodgers had been 98-0 in 2017 when leading after eight innings, including the postseason.

"I don't even know if anybody heard me", Verlander said. His slider is a pitch that he's developed very well over the past few years as his fastball velocity has deteriorated to the 95 mph. In the bottom of the inning, defensive replacement Charlie Culberson hit a two-out solo shot. Jose Altuve homered in the 10th and so did Correa, who turned and flipped his bat defiantly.

Through it all, the bullpen had been thoroughly dependable - until one incredible game when it wasn't. Celebrities in the sellout crowd of 54,293 included golfers Tiger Woods and Fred Couples, and former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning. Set up the breaking stuff with a fourseam, and get batters waving with the slider.
