Game 4 time set for Cubs vs Nats

Game 4 time set for Cubs vs Nats

In yet another unpredictable turn in the saga of Stephen Strasburg, the Washington Nationals will start their $175 million ace in Wednesday's Game 4 of the National League Division Series against the Chicago Cubs.

If the Nationals are able to get this series to a potential Game 5 on Thursday, Scherzer's health and durability will be a major factor.

But Scherzer ran up his pitch count by nibbling around the plate, walking three batters, leading Baker to pull his ace with the Nationals leading 1-0. But though the extension would put the dominant Stephen Strasburg on regular rest to pitch the Nats' next game, manager Dusty Baker said Tuesday that he will stick with the more hittable Tanner Roark in Game 4 in part because Strasburg is sick.

"We decided to stay with Tanner because, No. 1, you know, he was slated", Baker said. A variety of reasons were given over the last 18 hours from an asthma attack running to mold in the hotel's air conditioning unit to the flu.

Naturally, a firestorm of criticism began raining down on Strasburg almost as soon as the news broke that he would not be starting the must-win Game 4.

"Again, that was early this morning, 8 a.m. central time, and Mike Maddux, our pitching coach, had gotten a call from Stephen prior to that that I was not aware of", he said. Cubs RHP Jake Arrieta will make his first start since Sept. 26 when he takes the mound for the Cubs in Game 4. He was lifted for Pedro Strop after Schwarber's double-error in the sixth, when Schwarber dropped Daniel Murphy's fly ball and then let it get away from him.

"We always believe that it's going to come through until that last out". Here is what you need to know.

With the weather cooperating in Chicago, all signs pointed to Stephen Strasburg taking the ball for Game 4 of the NLDS following an extra day of rest thanks to a rainout.

The Cubs returned to form on defense after the tie, galvanized by seizing the game from the grips of the Nationals. "So he came into the clubhouse, went to the manager's office and said that 'I want to start this game'". After Michael A. Taylor singled and advanced to second on a throwing error, Washington extended the inning when Zobrist, the Cubs' second baseman, booted a Bryce Harper ground ball. Join the District on Deck team!

"It really does not matter", manager Joe Maddon said of Strasburg pitching.

Skewer and scratch and shake to your heart's content. Done?

Ben Zobrist teed up a Scherzer fastball in the seventh inning and drove a double into the left-center field gap.

One of those is correct, but not being forthcoming immediately backfired on the Nats and Strasburg. Justin Turner-who had five RBI in Game 1-is establishing himself as one of the best postseason hitters in the game.
